Meeting of the New Champions 2008
I am flying somewhere over what’s left of the Arctic on my way to speak at Summer Davos, organized by The World Economic Forum in Tianjin, People’s Republic of China.
With the world worrying about the potential for global economic meltdown, it should be a great opportunity for me to explore the ripple effects of the recent events in the US banking market.
The organizers describe the event as, “The Annual Meeting of New Champions provides a unique platform for those seeking new opportunities to come together to shape and define an agenda of growth with fresh ideas, innovative business models and new technologies, regardless of prevailing macroeconomic conditions.”
I plan to talk about the kinds of growth to expect, where it will come from, and who it will benefit. I’ll also be speaking about strategic planning in a world of uncertainty. For the talk, I am paired with (or against, as the case may be) the CEO of Booz & Company (formerly Booz Allen,) President and COO of Thomson Reuters, the CEO of TNT, and the CEO of Heidrick & Struggles, one of the world’s largest recruiters (we are a client.)
Other participants include hundreds of CEOs running high-growth enterprises and a select group of mayors and governors, technology pioneers, young scientists and policy makers.
Stay tuned. More to come.
